means of survival

You know, being homeless is no laughing matter. To me it's sad to see people who were once productve members of society fall from grace. i can't front though, I did have a slight attitude towards the homeless for a min. In my hood, theres a certain spot where dope feinds, drunks and mock homeless dudes converge at, and most of the time they're begging for whatever they can get. However, there was a point where these so called homeless dudes were robbing people around the way, so it sort of created a negative image of all homeless people. However, just like all black people aren't the same, all homeless people aren't so hungry for food they have to rob people. After talking to a dude who used to pan handle in that spot, he put up on something. he said the majority of dudes out here are junkies, all of em have nice homes, wives children, but they come out here to get high. Thats why they're robbin people. They're not robbin and killin to feed their families. they're robbing to feed their drug habits. But that convo enlightened my train of thought. All homeless people aren't on drugs neither. I'll never forget i was walking into a dunkin donuts and saw a dude sleeping on the ground. the ill feelings I had sort of krept back in my heart. But soon i thought to myself, "what if that was you tryna get a good nights sleep on the dirty cold ground?" You talkin bout $FrEsH-KiNg$ this and BEST DRESSED THAT, but what if you only had the clothes on your back to get you from day to day? On some real survival junk. See i'm not the only one. People have ill feelings about the homeless. Many look down their noses and laugh. But the other part is people are reluctant to give because they feel many are going to misuse the money. when jada said in the why joint, " why you see me on the corner with a why lie, I need a beer sighn" it was real, because thats how many people feel. So the average perception of a homeless person is a sneaky person whose tryna con their way into money for the wrong reason. Like the time my family and I went to our normal dinner spot, dude had three kids. Came up to us, saying he was trying to get to Virginia after he left dinner. we would have been cool, but dude also said he was living out of his car, can we spare anything? So my dad and I gave him something, and we went on our way. The next day, I kid you not, we go to the same dinner spot, do you know dude is up in there again. He didn't figure we were regulars. But wild thing is he couldn't look us in the face. It didn't matter, thats on his soul. but it's those situations that give honest homeless people a bad rap. But all we can do is pray for the world, it's a never ending visous cycle. The homeless deserve to be treated with respect. if you sit down with them long enough they're some of the greatest intelectual minds the world has ever seen. They're some of the best atheletes that have ever played sports. But it's easy to get this way. mis a bill, then start missing three bills. Soon they cut ya lights off, then god forbid your working minimum wage and your trying to stay above the poverty line. Mess around can't pay your rent and you can't afford to find another apartment. where you gonna go? You found yaself homeless!!! Just that simple!!

ORIGINAL DUNDADAS!!!!!!

Many of the sartorial community love to talk about how the men of Paris have great style when it comes to the clothes they wear. Yes it's true they have a look like no other, however I want to talk about a culture of men that seem to poses the same amount of style in one pinky. The men Ispeak of are from the Carribean Islands, Jamaica, Trinidad, so forth so on.I know the stereotype of the Carribean man is one who adorns a tank top with holes in it, soccer shorts and dress shoes. What I've noticed about them is there not afraid to put on a suit an dress. There also not afraid to use heavy amounts of color like many other men are. Even befor the hood went crazy over Grown and Sexy parties the Dance Hall scene was filled with men that stepped out on the town with platnium silver suits, black suits, leather suits, leather jackets, with dress shoes and dress pants, and bright colored linen in the summer. They are also not afraid to wear huge blinged out chains with a suit. Which is a huge no no in the menswear world. Which is ill, because some are not trying to be fashionable. They're more so trying to express the culture they represnt. Which gives them leadway for more creativity than others.. I remember in 2003 when Dancehall reggae finally made it to the forefront many of the major dancehall artists brought a cool style with them. I mean you did have Sean Paul(sometimes I don't be diggin his look), who had many jean suits and leather vests and jeans. But really even befor that I would have to say the man in my opinion who embodied Carribean Style was Beenie man. Ever since sim simma he's always been suited and booted. To me if you really want to see how ill his style is, check out the video girls dem suga featuring Mya. His combination of suits and kangols destroyed the game. Fast fowarding back to 2003 Elephant Man also emerged on the scene with blond locks and an unorthidoxed style of dress.I still love the trench coat and bucket he had on in the never scene a dance like this joint. And to this day his style is very crazy. At the Hot 97 summer jam in New York he wore a red Band jacket with gold kicks. Yes I know the band jacket is nothing new(Thanks to Kanye(2005) and Pharrell(2004)But he showed how he wasn't afraid to step out bold. Which is a big quality of the Carribean dress code. Then theres Beenies Rival Bounty Killer whose known for wearing the illest player type shades(many are reminiscent of the Versaces). But recently a person who revived the look of the true dancehall artist has to be Movado, who crushed BET's Rip the runway with thr illest black suit, pointed toe shoes and a red dress shirt with the collar blouse on the lapel. I loved the look because it was slick and 70's swingerish. All in all dance hall stars are not afraid to represent style of their culture.

SUCKAISM AT IT'S BEST!!!!!! DEAD PARTY HOODY!!!!

I took this pic of this Ed Hardy jacket to show the power Suckaism has over the youth. Maybe it's because it means so much to kids to want to fit in, they'll go to the longest lengths to be hip. To me that's what I call trying to hard. People kill me with that simple is better kick. Anything over done is trying too hard. NOOOOO!!!! What's trying to hard is trying your best to fit in so other lost souls won't laugh at you. That's what I think of when I see hood dudes rockin Dead Party!!! Man half these dudes I know don't feel comfortable rockin this junk!!! Earn more cool points being yaself. huge lesson for the day!!!

MILT-FRESH'S B-DAY, JUNE 14, 08!!!!

So yesterday was my birthday, i had got up to find this huge banner my mom made in honor of my day. She's one person I can always count on to make my birthday a big deal. i love her for that!!! As you can see on my day I had to hurt em with the wine and pink on em when it came to the fit!!!! True style beast, stuntin on them suckaz, many hated, many congradulate, others stood in amazement. well anyway i went to church, but later on that evening i got up with my pookie gurl Roni and her family. We decided to double date at the movies where we caught that new denzel washington and john travulta action thriller(can't think of the name)!!! All in all it was a great day, got to spend my b-day with the ones I love. However I was extremley touched by what she wrote in my card. What stuck with me was the part that said, don't ever change. It meant a lot to me because she's saying she loves me for who I am. loves me for all my strengths, weeknesses, flaws, everything. i couldn't have asked for a better girl friend. She also picked out the white and pink straw godfather hat for my present!! Trust she's got taste. Well my 24th birthday was a great day.

Stuntin is a habit!!!!

IDK, I'm just in love with getting FuZz, fly, or fresh. Man it's just the illest feeling when I put on a sick dashiki suit, a Ill hat, dress shirt, or a sick pair of shoes. Man it sends the illest surge of energy through my body. So when I go shopping It's an ill feeling to pick up items that help me represent my style to the fullest. It reminds me of a convo I had with one of my students at my job. He asked me what was the most you ever spent on a hat. I told him $200.00 on a hat. He said, god man why would you waist that much on a hat!!! So I told him $300.00 more and you can cop you an official pair of bathing apes. He said true, I see your point. What I'm trying to say is if you like something you'll pay for it. I mean everybody has their own specific look that they want to represent them. Like if you look at the true Bathing Ape/BBC culture(not the trend humpers who rock bape one day then a month later they ed hardyed out) that Pharrell and Nigo have usherd in it takes money to dress that way. But if thats what you like you don't mind spending money to be a bape head. So for this FuZzY life style, it costs. I've paid the cost to be the boss. Not just with the dollar amount but earning my stripes. Bein one of the most hated cats in the city, to being one of the city's most embraced. I've braved the dirty looks, the snikering, the back biting, the slick talk, everything. Suckaz, it's deeper than clothing!!!!
